A recent study has revealed that a third of people in England believe in ghosts, with young people and women being the most likely to believe in the supernatural. The National Folklore Survey found that individuals aged 25 to 34 are the most inclined to believe in paranormal phenomena. According to the Daily Mail, the study was led by academics from Sheffield Hallam University, the University of Hertfordshire, and Chapman University in the United States. The results showed that over a third of people in England believe in ghosts or spirits of the dead. Young people (aged 25-34) are also more likely to believe in the supernatural, which includes magical creatures, witchcraft, spells, spiritual mediums, angels, and demons. An Ipsos poll in the UK found that 36% of participants believe in the existence of ghosts or spirits of the dead, and 27% said they believe it is possible to communicate with the dead. Meanwhile, 16% of participants reported having a paranormal experience, but nearly one in five did not discuss it with anyone, not even family and friends. One of the researchers, Parks-Neeld, said: 'What surprised me is that those who profess to believe in ghosts are often women, but they are also more likely to believe that the existence of ghosts is comforting or pleasant, whereas those who are more likely to believe that ghosts are frightening are mostly men'.
