Majidi Celebrates 50 Years in the UAE

«Majidi» celebrates 50 years of its establishment, continuing its journey as one of the oldest and most prominent destinations for books and culture in the United Arab Emirates. On Sunday, «Majidi» will host special events across all its branches across the emirates to celebrate the golden anniversary of its launch in 1975 and to honor its long-standing commitment to supporting education and spreading knowledge. «Majidi» began five decades ago as a small shop for educational toys and children's books before expanding to become a leading national brand with branches in community and shopping malls, in addition to its store at New York University Abu Dhabi, which serves readers, students, and teachers. Throughout its history, «Majidi» has transcended the traditional concept of a bookstore to become a comprehensive destination offering books, toys, arts, stationery, school uniforms, electronics, and educational gifts, making it an integrated center for learning and development. It has also played a significant role in supporting the literary and cultural scene in the country, as its branch in «Jumeirah 1» hosted some of the earliest book clubs in the UAE and has hosted events for several international authors, including Paulo Coelho, Kyrke Paul, and Francesca Simon. «Majidi» was the first bookstore in the UAE to offer the novels of British author J.K. Rowling in 1997, inspiring a new generation of readers through the «Harry Potter» series. Today, «Majidi» continues its partnerships with schools and educational institutions to provide academic books, school supplies, and support to students and teachers, reaffirming its commitment to its mission of spreading culture and knowledge.

Co-founder of «Majidi», Isabel Abuhol, said: «We are delighted to see our customers who visited us as children coming back today with their own children. Seeing generations enjoy visiting our stores is the greatest joy we can have».
