Sharjah Book Fair Hosts Sessions on Archaeology and Historical Narrative

The Sharjah Authority for Heritage, as part of its participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair 2025, organized two specialized sessions that discussed the relationship between archaeology and historical narrative in documenting human presence on the land of the UAE, and the role of storytelling in preserving national memory and reviving scenes of life since the dawn of history. In the first session, titled 'Archaeology and Heritage: Narrative and History in the State of the Emirates,' the Director General of the Authority, Issa Yousef, and Dr. Hamad bin Surai, reviewed the history of archaeological discoveries from the first Danish mission in 1959 to the present, confirming that excavation efforts have contributed to building a comprehensive civilizational record that reflects the depth of human presence extending for over 210,000 years. The second session, titled 'The Cultural Landscape of Prehistoric Eras in Al-Faya,' focused on the screening of the documentary film 'Al-Faya.' Yousef and Khawla Al-Huli explained that the site is considered one of the oldest inhabited oases in the world and is a candidate for the UNESCO World Heritage List for 2025.
