The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has launched the Hatta Winter Camp, hosted at the Hatta Heritage Village during weekends until December 3rd. The camp aims to celebrate the heritage, traditions, and natural environment of the Hatta region, foster a sense of teamwork among the youth, and introduce them to community customs. This initiative is part of the Authority's commitment to supporting the goals of the 'Year of Community,' the comprehensive development plan for the Hatta area, and achieving the targets of the 'Dubai Urban Plan 2040' for the region. The camp, which began on the 15th of this month, targets children aged between seven and 12. It offers them an opportunity to interact with Hatta's unique natural environment through a series of interactive educational activities organized over four weeks under the supervision of a team of experts. These experts will introduce the youth to various aspects of community life in the region, helping to instill a national identity in them and enhance their teamwork skills. Over four weeks, children will embark on exciting field adventures. In the first week, titled 'People and Places,' they will meet the people of Hatta and learn how mountains, forts, and farms have shaped their lives. In the second week, they will meet 'Honey Makers' to learn about Hatta's nature and the life cycle of bees and experience honey collection from the mountains. In the third week, they will follow 'Wadi Jima and the Wonders of Water,' a journey tracing the flow of water from the mountains and exploring the techniques used by ancient inhabitants to preserve and channel it to their homes and farms. In the fourth week, children will celebrate the 54th Union Day and participate in an exceptional experience that nurtures a sense of belonging and responsibility and instills the values of teamwork in a pleasant atmosphere. The camp will also feature a series of events that celebrate the history and national values of the UAE. Mariam Tameer, Acting Head of the Heritage Sites Department, stated that the camp represents part of Dubai Culture's efforts to enhance the sense of belonging and responsibility among the younger generation. She added: 'Through the camp's activities, the Authority aims to provide children with innovative educational experiences that contribute to broadening their intellectual and creative horizons and enable them to explore the Hatta region, its heritage, and the community's customs and traditions. It also offers them a chance to embark on unique adventures inspired by local heritage, where they learn about the lifestyle of the area's residents and its natural and tourist potential.' She confirmed that all workshops were designed with a high degree of professionalism to develop and enhance children's skills and stimulate their creativity and desire to learn.
