The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced a long-term partnership with Hala, a company that provides the easiest solutions for booking taxis electronically in Dubai. The initiative, launched for Union Day, will feature a collection of Emirati artworks on taxis across the city, aiming to enhance access to cultural and heritage sites in the emirate.
The artist, Wafa Ibrahim, drew inspiration from the daily rhythm of life in the UAE. Her cartoon-inspired style blends modernity with symbols rooted in Dubai's history, from the desert and sea as emblems of belonging, to the city's urban landscape reflecting its development, and symbols of hospitality, daily activities, and human bonds that capture the spirit of the nation. In her work, she used clear urban lines and symbols inspired by the desert, sea, and city skyline, honoring the nation they belong to.
Wafa Ibrahim stated: "I designed this artwork to reflect aspects of life in the country, from its rich heritage to its modern features, and the stories carried in daily movements that are close to individuals."
The CEO of Hala, Khalid Nasiba, commented: "This partnership with Dubai Culture reflects the essence of what Hala represents by celebrating the daily journeys that bring people together."
As part of this partnership, Hala will decorate 400 taxis with special artistic designs by Emirati artist Wafa Ibrahim. This will transform daily commutes into 'mobile exhibitions,' reflecting the spirit of national creativity and the uniqueness of the Emirati identity. The creatively designed taxis will appear on Dubai's streets, offering residents and visitors a new visual experience that combines urban mobility with artistic expression.
