Dubai, UAE — The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority organized a dialogue session titled 'Exploring Ideas: A Dialogue with Roberto Coin,' featuring world-renowned jewelry designer Roberto Coin. He discussed his creative journey, sources of inspiration, ability to innovate, and bold design approach.
The session, held with the support of the 'Sikka' platform, aimed to provide creators with the opportunity to gain new insights that would expand their knowledge and enhance their skills in design and the arts. This aligns with the Authority's commitment to supporting and empowering talents and reinforcing Dubai's status as a global cultural hub, a cradle of creativity, and a meeting point for talents.
During the session, held at the Union Museum in the presence of Director General of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Hala Badri, Executive Director of the Arts, Design, and Literature Sector Shaima Rashid Al Suwaidi, and Director of the Projects and Events Management Department Khlood Khoury, Coin highlighted key aspects of his creative career. He touched upon his beginnings in the hospitality sector, his subsequent transition to the world of jewelry, and the significant milestones that shaped his passion, as well as the founding of his design and creativity center and the launch of his brand in 1996, which quickly rose to become a global brand thanks to its distinctive artistic innovations.
Coin focused his talk during the session, moderated by art critic Lucia Buscarini, on the sources of his inspiration, which he draws from the diversity of world cultures, and how these fuel his creativity and lead to the invention of new, bold designs that reflect his passionate and ever-evolving journey and his quest for a balance between the past and the future. His designs tell different stories that showcase uniqueness and his distinctive style. He also discussed the most important ethical practices in the jewelry industry.
At the same time, Coin delivered a series of inspiring messages to young people and talents, urging them to develop their skills and strive to achieve their ambitions and dreams.
