Dubai Launches 'Winter in Hatta' Festival

Yesterday, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, the 'Winter in Hatta' festival kicked off as part of the '#Dubai Destinations' campaign. Organized by 'Brand Dubai', the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, the festival will run until December 28th along the shores of Lake Lim, spanning three hectares with a stunning mountain backdrop, offering a packed schedule of distinguished family activities.

Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, noted that this year's 'Winter in Hatta' festival builds on the massive success of its previous edition at Lake Lim, which attracted over 650,000 visitors. She emphasized that the preparation for this new edition focused on preserving diversity and inclusivity to contribute to the goals of Dubai's Urban Plan 2040 by enhancing awareness of Hatta's tourist and cultural attractions.

Amina Tahir, a member of the festival's organizing committee, explained that the event is a significant community occasion that garners substantial interest from Hatta's residents, people across the UAE, and visitors from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The festival's timing was aligned with school holidays to provide families with a greater opportunity to enjoy its events. The organizing committee ensured a balance between entertainment and education with a comprehensive agenda featuring over 150 workshops and more than 30 activities for all ages.

To add more excitement and fun, this year's festival will feature a 'maze room' with games designed specifically for the event. The 'Giant Games' area near the entrance offers a cheerful and vibrant start to the family event, blending nostalgia with modern fun. Over 150 outdoor workshops with a scenic view of Lake Lim and the surrounding festival square will provide opportunities for both young and old.

With the support of 'Camelicious', 'The Majlis' will be the perfect spot for senior citizens to gather, reminisce, and share memories of Hatta. To enhance the venue's beauty, the surrounding mountainous area will be illuminated using new and innovative lighting techniques, while the bridges crossing Lake Lim will be creatively lit with designs inspired by nature and heritage.

Situated on the banks of Lake Lim, the main theater is designed in a simple style inspired by Hatta's mountainous landscape. It serves as an elegant and serene backdrop for over 100 shows, popular TV programs from Dubai Media, and numerous innovative cultural and entertainment performances tailored for families, accommodating up to 500 spectators.

With the return of the 'Winter in Hatta' festival, the 'Brand Dubai' store will reopen, offering visitors the chance to purchase a wide range of souvenirs inspired by the works of over 10 artists who have created more than 25 distinctive pieces of art.

The festival's activities will receive extensive television coverage through Dubai Media. A studio for the 'Sama Dubai' satellite channel will be set up in the heart of the festival for interviews with guests.

As part of its support for local initiatives under the 'Proudly from Dubai' banner, Brand Dubai is featuring 30 projects at this year's festival, half of which are led by entrepreneurs from Hatta and the other half from across Dubai. The lineup also includes unique community experiences such as 'Cooking & Camping', 'Stargazing', and 'Life in Hatta's Farms' for children, along with the participation of the renowned 'Hummus Bakery' restaurant.

The festival will also dedicate spacious areas for children with a joyful program of activities, and a winter games zone will add to the festive spirit and adventure, offering engaging and interactive experiences for children of all ages.
