Dubai Launches Winter Cultural Camps for Children

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced the completion of preparations for the opening of its winter camps, organized across all its heritage and cultural sites this December. The initiative aims to provide children and youth aged 4 to 14 with a series of interactive cultural and artistic experiences, enabling them to develop their abilities and skills, in line with the Authority's vision of fostering a creative environment that inspires them and expands their intellectual horizons.

The winter camp at the Shindagha Museum will be held in two sessions: the first from December 15-19 and the second from December 22-26. It will offer children an interactive journey rich in fun and learning, allowing them to explore the importance of the agricultural sector in the nation and its role in promoting sustainability, thereby instilling a value of teamwork. Under the theme 'Nature's Adventurers', the young participants will engage in a series of interactive workshops in a lively and innovative atmosphere, including a palm treasure hunt, an 'escape room' challenge, tree-climbing activities, meetings with beekeepers, and learning about local flora and fauna. They will also design their own small gardens and learn to make the traditional dessert 'luqaimat'.

The winter camp at the Union Museum, organized by the Authority from December 15-19 and 22-26, will provide children and youth with a series of interactive activities and group challenges. Participants will gain insights into the vision of the nation's founders, their values, achievements, and the country's history and culture. The program also focuses on developing leadership, communication, teamwork, and social responsibility skills. Campers will explore the aesthetics of arts and collage, ceramics, falconry and its symbolism in local culture, and sustainable farming methods. They will also learn about satellites, their applications, and the nation's space exploration and Mars projects.

The winter camp at the Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, themed 'Wonders of the Universe', will run for two weekly sessions: December 8-12 and December 15-19. It offers a wide range of educational and creative workshops, including visual arts, pottery, digital arts, and cooking. Special activities include candle making, a stargazing telescope workshop, and a trip to 'Roboland'. The camp will conclude with an art exhibition and a theatrical performance showcasing the children's diverse creations.

The winter camp at Dubai Public Libraries, held from December 15-26 under the theme 'Our Winter: Challenge and Creativity', will provide children with unique experiences blending art, sports, and crafts in an innovative way. The series of workshops will take place at various libraries, led by experts who will train children in acrylic painting, pottery, 3D drawing, sand art, shadow puppetry, and more. Throughout the camp, children will participate in sports challenges and group games to foster cooperation and focus, as well as craft activities like decorating pens and cups, and learning traditional crafts.

In conjunction with the camps, Dubai Culture is organizing a used book exhibition at the Al Safa Arts and Design Library, open from 8 AM to 8 PM on weekdays and until 12 PM on Fridays, closed on Saturdays. The exhibition offers a wide selection of books and unique titles at symbolic prices between 3 and 15 AED, promoting the concept of book sustainability and encouraging community exchange.
