The Sultan bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation held a special screening of the film «Shadows of That Light» dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the poet Sultan Al Owais' birth. The film was directed by Emirati poet and director Njoom Al Ghanem at the Max cinema in Wafi Center, Dubai. The event was attended by an elite group of intellectuals, artists, writers, and journalists, led by the Secretary-General of the Al Owais Cultural Foundation, Abdelhamid Ahmed, and a member of the board of trustees, Dr. Fatima Al Sayegh, as well as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cultural and Scientific Forum, Bilal Badour, and other public figures. Before the screening, director Njoom Al Ghanem thanked everyone involved in the film's production, giving a special tribute to the editor, Anne di Mauro, for her significant effort. She spoke about the working conditions on the film and the process of transforming archival material into a living narrative by blending it with contemporary reality. The participants in the film painted a panoramic portrait of Sultan Al Owais through their testimonies, which included information about his life, poetry, trade, and charitable works, as well as the circumstances surrounding the establishment of the Al Owais Cultural Prize. The 60-minute film was met with great admiration and appreciation from the attendees, who praised director Njoom Al Ghanem's unique artistic vision. The film began with the general lines of a portrait of Sultan Al Owais' face, with its colors evolving as more testimonies from the film's characters were introduced. By the end of the screening, the features of the portrait became clear, as if it were an audiovisual painting of the poet Sultan Al Owais, in parallel with the color and voice inputs of each character.
