Dubai Prepares for the Finale of the World's Longest Camel Trek

Dubai is preparing to host the longest camel trek in history. The final stage of the 12th journey begins tomorrow as the caravan has covered more than half the distance across the sand dunes of the UAE desert. The event involves 29 people from 18 different nationalities, both citizens and residents. The journey spans 21 days and covers 1050 kilometers on camelback.

The caravan set off from the Salil area in Abu Dhabi along a historical route once taken by pilgrims, recreating one of the most important caravan trails in the region's history. This experience simulates ancient travel methods and reflects the deep relationship between humans and the desert environment.

Abdullah bin Dalmook, CEO of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Centre for Heritage, praised the participants' efforts, highlighting their commitment, cooperation, and patience, which helped overcome many challenges, especially when traversing difficult terrains.

He stated: "The journey faced significant challenges. The nature of the trail and its desert conditions imposed great hardship on the participants, leading to one participant withdrawing due to an inability to continue. Additionally, three camels were replaced as they could not complete the trek." He noted that the country's weather conditions added to the difficulties, but the caravan continues on its scheduled path. The will and determination are present to carry on with the journey no matter the circumstances, even if it requires walking some stages on foot.

Bin Dalmook continued: "This journey has been a true test of team spirit. The participants faced varying natural conditions and difficult routes, which highlights the significant role of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Centre for Heritage's trainers in preparing the participants and adapting them to these conditions, enhancing their endurance and patience. This journey carries a deep historical and cultural message aimed at raising awareness about the authentic heritage of the UAE, conveying the experience of desert life that formed a fundamental part of our ancestors' lives, and introducing current and future generations to the value of this heritage as one of the pillars of our national identity and connection to our ancient past."

The caravan's route includes several prominent stations, such as Al Shiba, Qarn Waqra Al Aqab, Raqat Rawda, Rumlat Sahib Azeeba, Al Hayer, Rumlat Ibn Muraywad, Al Abdaaliya, Janoob Bu Balq, Janoob Batayn Liwa, west of the Arabian Oryx Reserve, Sabkha Al Daaisa, the Arabian Oryx Reserve, and Saih Al Hayer. The caravan has arrived at the Janoob Al Khazna area in Dubai on its way to Naq Hamdan, passing through Al Jabban Rumlat Madran, Saih As Salam, heading towards the Global Village's Heritage Village for the finale.

Meanwhile, the Global Village is set to welcome guests with a special presentation of "Swan Lake" in Dubai, starting today, as part of the holiday season. This classic Tchaikovsky work, which tells the timeless story of Prince Siegfried and Odette and the curse cast by the sorcerer Rothbart, will be presented in a new vision with 26 performers on the main stage of the renowned destination. Guests will experience the highlights of the performance, including the White Swan and Black Swan duet, in a performance that embodies the original work's aesthetic. The show will be performed daily on the main stage until the 26th (excluding the 22nd). As the region's favorite family destination, the Global Village continues to excel with exceptional shows and world-class entertainment in every season, making it a place where guests of all tastes and cultures can enjoy unforgettable experiences.
