In December 2023, the Director General of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Hala Badri, and Sultan Saud Al Qasimi, founder of the Bajra Arts Foundation, visited the 'Witnesses of Change' exhibition in Dubai. Organized by Dubai Culture in partnership with the Bajra Arts Foundation at the Union Museum, the exhibition showcased about 60 works documenting the evolution of Emirati artistic identity over five decades. Their visit underscored a shared commitment to preserving local art and boosting its presence on the global stage.
The exhibition featured a variety of pieces, ranging from landscape paintings and abstract works to carvings and urban documentation projects. The curators explained the background of each work and highlighted the artists who have been active in the country since 1971, contributing to the cultural scene.
"These works have profoundly influenced the social, economic, and urban fabric of the UAE," said Hala Badri. "The exhibition provides the public with a chance to discover a wide range of art for the first time, opening new horizons for emerging talents and encouraging them to drive the cultural movement in Dubai."
The event reaffirms efforts to safeguard national heritage and attract international attention to the country’s art.
