Global motivational speaker from the USA, Nick Santostaso, announced the launch of a global platform in Dubai, aiming to replace traditional terms associated with disability with the term 'people of determination' instead of 'people with disabilities', in line with the naming given to this category by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, making this phrase the globally accepted term when referring to people with disabilities. Santostaso, during his participation in the World Sport Summit, noted that the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid served as a personal role model that inspired him in every way, hailing his leadership in empowering people of determination and granting them a social status and a complete life. He added that Dubai provided him with an ideal environment for personal and social growth after moving to live in the city, pointing to the city's appreciation for people of determination and granting them a distinguished social standing, which made their participation in daily life smooth and natural. He said: 'Everything we do here is not just a feeling of pity, but a feeling of satisfaction and giving, and providing an opportunity for everyone to showcase their abilities.' He explained: 'The UAE did not limit itself to providing health support and services to people of determination, but also provided a comprehensive educational and social environment that enables them to coexist naturally and without any mobility complications.' The international speaker also touched upon his personal journey, explaining that he was born in 1996 in a critical health condition, as his father refused to travel to Europe for fear of not receiving proper treatment. He added: 'They gave me legs and one hand, and my parents knew that a soft environment would not help me recover, so they worked to prepare me for integration into life in a difficult but essential way for my future.' Santostaso concluded, emphasizing that family support and personal discipline enabled him to overcome physical and psychological challenges to become a successful and inspiring athlete, stressing the importance of patience, continuous work, and focusing on developing the body and soul, saying: 'Anyone who wants to take this path, I will support them, for success begins with working on oneself, and the soul is our greatest limit.'
