This Friday, the «Marmoom: Wildlife Life» exhibition will open, organized by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority in cooperation with the Secretary-General of the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award, Ali Khalifa bin Thani. The exhibition will run until February 8th at the Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve, the largest unfenced natural reserve in the United Arab Emirates. This first-of-its-kind exhibition aims to highlight the Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve as a living ecosystem, as well as its aesthetic value and natural elements that are an essential part of the local environment and culture. This aligns with the Authority's responsibilities and commitments to enhance community awareness of sustainability concepts, preserve and conserve tangible and intangible cultural heritage, and expand its global presence, as well as to support the field of photography, which is a key part of the cultural and creative industries. The exhibition features 24 photographs by Ali bin Thani, known for his distinctive artistic shots. Through them, he showcases the features of wildlife in Marmoom and details of its local environment, offering the public an opportunity to discover its natural diversity, the animals it hosts, as well as migratory wild and marine birds that find in the reserve a resting stop and safe haven before continuing their journeys. Shaima Rashid Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Arts, Design, and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, affirmed the Authority's commitment to supporting and empowering local talents, providing opportunities that enhance their capabilities and showcase their skills in photography and various creative fields. She added that the exhibition will contribute to showcasing the Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve and its natural potential, reflecting its status as an ecological incubator and a prestigious tourist destination. She stated: «The exhibition represents an innovative cultural experience that stimulates the public to explore the secrets and beauty of Marmoom, learn about its biodiversity, and highlights the importance of photography as a documentary and creative tool capable of expressing the environmental scene with an impactful visual language, contributing to raising awareness about sustainability and conservation of natural heritage». Ali bin Thani said: «The Marmoom reserve is distinguished by its unique biodiversity, which has made it a home to many rare animal and living organisms, which is reflected in the 'Marmoom: Wildlife Life' exhibition, which offers the public a cultural and visual experience that captures unseen moments of interaction between living organisms and their environment».
