Currently, the WhatsApp application is testing a new feature that allows users to add an optional password to protect their account. This is part of an experimental update for the Android operating system. According to the specialized site WABetaInfo, which tracks application updates, the experimental version of WhatsApp for Android includes a feature that allows users to set an additional password that is required after entering the six-digit verification code when logging into a WhatsApp account on a new device. The site explained that the purpose of the password feature in WhatsApp is to enhance account security. Even if an unauthorized person manages to obtain the verification code via a text message, they will not be able to log in without entering the additional password set by the user. It was noted that the password will be a mix of letters and numbers, ranging from 6 to 20 characters, and must include at least one letter and one number. The app will also display a password strength indicator to help users choose a more secure password. The site pointed out that the password feature in WhatsApp is completely optional and can be enabled, modified, or disabled at any time within the app's settings. It also mentioned that if enabled, the user will be asked to enter the password after entering the main verification code when logging into the account. The site further noted that the feature is still under development in the experimental version of the WhatsApp update, and no official release date for all users has been announced.
