UAE and Oman to Witness Final Phases of Total Lunar Eclipse

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society, stated that the total lunar eclipse expected to begin tomorrow evening, Tuesday, in the middle of the holy month of Ramadan, will last 59 minutes. Arab countries, except for the UAE and Oman, will not be able to witness it, as they will only see its final stages. He mentioned that the total lunar eclipse begins at exactly 11:04 UTC and ends at exactly 12:03 UTC, lasting for 59 minutes. During the total eclipse, when the Moon is completely inside the Earth's shadow, it will appear orange-red, which is the color of sunset and sunrise in the Earth's atmosphere. The eclipse will peak at exactly 11:34 UTC, and the full moon will be complete at exactly 11:38 UTC. The partial phases will begin at exactly 9:50 UTC and end at exactly 13:17 UTC. The total eclipse will be visible from East Asia, Australia, the Pacific Ocean, and the Americas. Al Jarwan noted that the total eclipse will not be visible in Arab countries, except for the UAE and Oman, which will witness the final stages of the lunar eclipse—the penumbral phase, ending at 14:23 UTC, coinciding with the time of the Maghrib prayer in the UAE. The penumbral phase is not easily distinguishable, as it causes only a slight dimming of the Moon's light.
