Dubai Manages 'Azm' Weather Impacts Successfully

Dubai Municipality successfully managed the impacts of the 'Azm' low-pressure weather system through a proactive and integrated operational framework, ensuring community safety, service continuity, and rapid recovery across the Emirate. Operations included the removal of over 159 fallen trees, clearance of 1,130 cubic meters of water, and disposal of 12,250 kilograms of waste. Dubai Municipality also ensured uninterrupted operation of wastewater and stormwater stations, managing drainage flows and maintaining road safety. These efforts underscore Dubai's commitment to safe, resilient urban environments. Adel Mohammed Al Marzouqi, CEO of the Waste and Sewerage Agency, stated: 'Dubai's response demonstrates the strength of our integrated operational model.' He added: 'We remain committed to advancing stormwater infrastructure to meet the highest standards of resilience.' Dubai Municipality deployed approximately 1,000 personnel and advanced technologies, including drones and marine robots, to support operations. Thanks to rapid recovery measures, beaches reopened within 6 hours and public parks within 24 hours. The stormwater drainage infrastructure managed 12.195 million cubic meters of rainwater through a network of 124,000 inlets and 4.9 million meters of pipelines. Dubai's phased operational plan mobilized 3,500 personnel and 1,210 machines, handling 15,150 calls through the 'Faris' system. These capabilities reinforce Dubai's position as one of the world's most prepared cities for climate-related challenges.
