DIFC, the leading global financial hub in the MEASA region, has announced the second edition of the Future Sustainability Forum, scheduled for December 4 and 5, 2024, in Dubai. This event aims to mobilize industry leaders, investors, tech disruptors, and policymakers to help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and support the Paris Agreement. The forum will focus on sustainable practices, discussions on development, environmental conservation, social equity, and innovation.
Alya Al Zarouni, Chief Operating Officer of DIFC Authority, stated, “The DIFC organized Future Sustainability Forum is a vital platform for collaborative action towards a more sustainable future.” The forum aligns with the UAE's commitment to advancing sustainability priorities and initiatives like the DIFC Sustainable Finance Catalyst.
The event will address critical sustainability issues across eight core pillars, including banking, finance, renewable energy, transportation, recycling, technology, agriculture, and food production. With over 3,000 participants expected, the Forum will feature expert speakers and innovative solutions through the Climate Action & Renewable Energy Expo (CARE).
The UAE government has launched various sustainability programs towards achieving a net-zero future. The forum is in line with the UAE leadership's vision to accelerate the transition to greener economies through sustainable practices in technology, banking, energy, and waste management.
Dr. Bernd van Linder, CEO of the Commercial Bank of Dubai, the presenting sponsor of the Forum, highlighted the bank's support for the UAE's sustainability ambitions. Initiatives like the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the UAE Net Zero 2050 strategic initiative emphasize renewable energy adoption, water conservation, waste management, and sustainable urban development.
The Future Sustainability Forum 2024 coincides with the first anniversary of COP28 being hosted in the UAE and aims to accelerate efforts towards the Paris Agreement and UN SDGs 2030. The forum provides a platform to forge new pathways towards a resilient and sustainable future for various industries.
