Launch of Research Grant Program at Union Museum

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) launched the "Research Grant Program" affiliated with the Union Museum, aimed at supporting advanced studies on the history, culture, and identity of the UAE. The goal of the program is to encourage the creative and academic community to produce new creative content that supports academic research and enriches studies related to the UAE.

The program comes within the framework of the commitments of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority to enhance the local heritage globally and bolster the role of museums in promoting research in cultural fields and developing the community. The "Research Grant Program" aims, as part of the season of the Union Museums, to highlight the importance of the museum archive enriched with historical documents and archival images that tell the story of the establishment of the union and its role in founding the United Arab Emirates.

Muna Faisal Al-Qarq, Managing Director of the Museum and Heritage Sector at Dubai Culture, emphasized the importance of the Union Museum archive in documenting the history of the Emirates and its pivotal role, and she pointed out the significance of transforming the museum into knowledge centers that contribute to enriching studies and local research. Participants in the program are required to present new ideas derived from the history of the state and its culture and national identity.

Dubai Culture Authority is accepting applications for participation in the program until December 20th. A panel of experts will evaluate the proposals to identify the recipients of the grants aimed at enhancing the Emirati identity and supporting studies relevant to the Union Museum. Proposals must be recent and not previously submitted in other programs, and focus on documenting and influencing local history and culture.
