The World Trade Center Dubai announced the start of the implementation of the first phase of the expansion plan.
The day before, the World Trade Center Dubai announced the commencement of the realization of the first phase of the general expansion plan of the Dubai Exhibition Center at "Expo-Goread", following the completion of contracts for land works and the construction of the foundation, and also started the execution of works on the main contract. The center noted that the general expansion plan will exceed 10 billion dirhams, which was approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, in September of this year. Upon completion of the overall work, it is estimated that the Dubai Exhibition Center will become the largest exhibition and event center in the region.
"Expo-Goread Dubai" represents a new urban area that includes the Dubai South Community and Al Maktoum International Airport, complying with the objectives of Dubai's Urban Plan to 2040. The first phase of the project begins with the execution of massive work, starting with pilots, including 515 operations for construction, 14 thousand tons of steel, which is equivalent to the weight of two Eiffel Towers, and 48 thousand cubic meters of reinforced concrete. The roofs of the halls will be covered with 78 thousand square meters of panels, which corresponds to the area of 62 Olympic basketball courts.
"The general expansion plan of the Dubai Exhibition Center plays a key and pivotal role in the development of the sectors of exhibitions, conferences, and events in Dubai, strengthening the emirate's position as a global hub for large-scale events," said Vice President of the World Trade Center Dubai Maher Jalifa. "Upon completion of all phases of the expansion, we will be able to increase the number of annual events from the current 300 to 600 by 2033, establishing a new global standard in the field of exhibitions and conferences, which will aid in creating a modern urban center, responding to the needs of the global sector of large-scale events, reinforcing Dubai's position as a preferred location for global major events and exhibitions."
