Pollinator Garden Opens in Expo Dubai

"Tiraa" opened a pollinator garden in the city of Expo Dubai, which is an environmental initiative aimed at highlighting the role of pollinators, particularly bees, in supporting ecological balance and sustainability. The garden is considered part of "Tiraa"'s efforts to increase environmental awareness and support biodiversity.

The pollinator project was launched in 2019 following the discovery of a hive containing over 2000 local bee species in the UAE, in collaboration with the Bee Conservation Foundation. Since then, the number of bee species in the garden has increased to more than 30,000 bees by 2024, reflecting the success of the garden in integrating these species into the surrounding environment.

The Director of Education and Culture in Expo Dubai, Mergan Faridouni, emphasized the importance of the pollinator garden as a cornerstone for dedicated efforts in preserving the environment. Jane Goodall, the global scientist and environmental activist, expressed her appreciation for this initiative and pointed to the important role bees play in environmental conservation.

The garden aims to enhance awareness of the importance of pollinators and encourage visitors, especially young people, to adopt sustainable practices. In the context of promoting awareness, "Tiraa" launched the "100 Hives, 100 Teachers" initiative, which aims to create beehives in schools across the UAE and provide practical education for students about the role of pollinators in supporting ecological balance.
