Dubai Electricity and Water Corporation (DEWA) has urged consumers to take necessary preventive measures to ensure a continuous electricity supply and avoid internal faults during the rainy season. The corporation emphasized that adhering to guidelines helps prevent faults caused by water leakage into electrical wiring or distribution boards.
This awareness campaign is part of DEWA's efforts to uphold the highest standards of efficiency and reliability in its services, enhancing consumer safety and preparedness for various weather fluctuations.
DEWA highlighted the importance of using a certified electrician for regular maintenance and preventive checks, ensuring all external connections and meter boards are water-resistant and safely insulated to minimize disruptions or electrical short circuits.
The corporation's recommendations include: securely closing distribution boards, replacing broken meter glasses, sealing openings in electrical connection pipes on roofs to prevent water leakage, and regularly inspecting grounding cables to ensure safe and continuous electrical flow.
Additionally, DEWA called on consumers to use the 'Smart Response' service via its smart app or website to diagnose the cause of a power outage. If the cause is internal, consumers should contact their building's maintenance team or a certified technician for repairs. If the fault is external and related to the corporation, consumers should call the emergency number 991, and a technical team will be dispatched to fix the fault with the highest efficiency and speed.
DEWA urged all consumers to follow its official social media accounts for guidelines during the rainy season, which include tips and preventive measures to maintain electrical stability and avoid internal faults.
In a separate announcement, Dubai Electricity and Water Corporation launched the fourth batch of its 'For Her - Corporation Ambassadors' program, organized in cooperation with Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University under the theme 'Women Shape the Future: A Vision Beyond the Present'. Over nine months, 25 female employees of the corporation will engage in a series of interactive workshops and specialized training courses led by a panel of experts and academics from Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University. The program focuses on multiple key areas, including transformational leadership, effective communication, change management, emotional intelligence in the workplace, and institutional innovation.
DEWA also announced its sponsorship of the 'Empower Minds' initiative launched by the Dubai Club for People of Determination. The initiative aims to qualify and empower club members with various disabilities through specialized training and rehabilitation programs in digital and technical skills.
The 'Empower Minds' initiative includes setting up a smart computer room equipped with the latest computer and artificial intelligence technologies at the club's premises to provide beneficiaries with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively integrate into society and the digital job market.
