UAE Expert: Healthy Habits Key to Preventing Childhood Cancer

Professor Hamid bin Harmal Al Shamsi, President of the Emirates Society for Oncology, emphasized the importance of adopting daily healthy practices to reduce the risk of children developing cancer, either during childhood or later in their youth. He stressed that prevention begins at home and is based on awareness and lifestyle. Al Shamsi explained to 'Al Khaleej' that the first of these tips is to reduce the consumption of fast food, especially highly processed foods, as their increasing prevalence among children leads to short-term health problems and is linked to an increased risk of stomach and colon cancer, especially among young people. He also pointed out that obesity is a major risk factor, as the excessive consumption of fast food contributes to its development.
