Access to affordable, reliable healthcare in the UAE is easier than you think. While company-provided health insurance gives you access to private hospitals and clinics, a UAE health card connects you to government-run healthcare facilities. This includes 17 hospitals, 64 primary healthcare centres and 10 public health centres. Having both ensures wider coverage and flexibility when choosing where to seek treatment. Who can apply? Health cards are available to UAE citizens, GCC citizens (residents and visitors), expatriate residents, visitors, and People of Determination. How to apply? The process is largely digital and straightforward. Enter the mobile number used for UAE Pass registration, or your Emirates ID number. Preview the details and click 'Proceed'. You will be shown the total amount to pay based on your application category. Health card costs: UAE citizens: AED20, valid for one year. GCC citizens: AED20 for UAE residents, valid for one year. Expatriates: AED100 for UAE residents, valid for one year; AED100 for UAE visitors, valid for five years; AED50 for UAE visitors. People of Determination: AED50, valid for three months. Additional fees: AED15. Where to use the health card? You can use it at EHS-affiliated facilities across all emirates, including major hospitals and primary healthcare centres in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah. The application process involves visiting the EHS website, using UAE Pass for authentication, selecting the correct applicant type, and paying online via credit/debit card or digital wallets.
