A user can hide WhatsApp status updates by following these steps: go to Settings, then select 'Privacy', then 'Status', and choose one of the following options:
• 'My Contacts': all your contacts can see your status (default setting). • 'My Contacts except..': all your contacts can see your status except those you have blocked (blocklist). • 'Only share with..': no one can see your status except the contacts you select here (allowlist).
On the other hand, a user can hide status updates from their contacts by doing the following:
- Go to 'Updates' under 'Status', find and select the status from the desired contact.
- Tap the three-dot menu at the top and select 'Hide'.
