On the third day of the World Governments Summit, the Arab Region SDG Index and Dashboards Report 2025 was presented, prepared in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). The 2025 report contains data on regional indicators of genuine progress and unique indicators highlighted for the region's priorities, assessing key challenges and progress in sustainable development in the region.
The report indicates that the Arab Region continues to move forward in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but there are significant challenges, especially in SDG 16, which relates to peace, justice, and strong institutions. This is seen as a key requirement for progress on all SDGs in the region.
Lama Zakzak, the lead researcher at MBRSG and the main author of the report, pointed to significant achievements - the growth in the use of digital infrastructure, improvements in relation to SDG 9 (industry, innovation, and infrastructure) and SDG 3 (health and well-being) in areas related to the basic health indicators.
Professor Jeffrey Sachs, president of SDSN, emphasized: "The Arab Region presents exceptional success for achieving sustainable development and specifically SDGs. The report highlights the need for concentrated resources and regional strategies to address the existing challenges."
The Arab region SDG index report and 2025 information panels represent a critical tool for developing policies, international organizations, and interested parties to accelerate sustainable progress in the region.
