UN Calls for Investigation into Gaza Violations

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, stated that the international system is experiencing tectonic shifts, and the human rights system, built over decades, has never faced such a challenge. During the plenary session of the fifty-eighth session of the Human Rights Council, he reiterated his call for an independent investigation into serious violations of international law during the war in the Gaza sector. "Any sustainable solution must be based on the principles of accountability, justice, the right to self-determination, as well as on human rights and their dignity. Any proposals regarding the forced displacement of people from their land are absolutely unacceptable," he emphasized.
