Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, expressed his "shock" after listening to the testimonies of the victims of the violence in the regions of Ukraine during his visit. Guterres visited Hroza and Kramatorsk, where he met with people who lost their homes and loved ones as a result of armed conflicts.
"I am shocked by what I see and hear here," he said. "Seeing the destroyed houses, hearing the stories of ordinary people, with whom I met today, evokes serious concern."
Guterres also emphasized the necessity of peacebuilding in the region, asserting that civilian populations should not suffer due to wars.
"Peacebuilding must be an absolute priority," stated the UN Secretary-General.
