In the past year, during the operations to block illegal websites that violate laws and norms on the protection of intellectual property in the country, a significant quality improvement has been achieved. Meanwhile, "Instablock", the central hub for instant blocking in the Dubai media center, established by the Ministry of Economy to combat violations in the field of digital content, was able to block 4,557 violating sites in 2024 compared to 1,123 in 2023. This reflects significant progress made by the UAE in the fight against digital violations and the protection of intellectual property rights.

Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Tukh Al-Miri emphasized that the UAE is on the path to strengthening its position as a global center for innovation and creativity, protecting and developing ideas as one of the sources of national economy. He also stated that the establishment of the "Instablock" center is indicative of the government's commitment to developing a forward-looking intellectual property protection system based on international best practices, creating a creative environment for talented and innovative individuals, and ensuring opportunities for the development of creative economic instruments in conjunction with the vision "We are UAE 2031".

Delving into the details, Al-Miri focused on the agreements made by the Ministry of Economy with a number of large structures for strengthening cooperation in the field of intellectual property protection, ensuring advanced mechanisms for author rights protection and guaranteeing the publication and use of content only with the permission of the rights holder.

He also emphasized the importance of further development of the "Instablock" center and strengthening cooperation with local and international partners to expand digital protection. Al-Miri pointed out that accelerating the processes of blocking illegal content contributes to the increasing potential of the UAE in the field of creative protection, reinforcing its leading position in the development of a new digital economy and calling to continue developing innovative instruments and technologies to ensure the relevance of all digital platforms to legislation and the protection of creators' rights in the context of accelerated digital transformations.
