Mohammed bin Rashid Library, in collaboration with the National Archives and Library, organized a specialized workshop titled 'Organization and Management of Documents and Archives in Government Entities'. The workshop brought together a select group of experts and specialists in the fields of archiving and document management. It aimed to enhance professional knowledge and develop archival practices within government entities, contributing to the improved efficiency of document management and the comprehensive preservation of national heritage in line with global best standards. Dr. Mohammed Salem Al-Mazrouei, a member of the Board of Directors of Mohammed bin Rashid Library, stated that 'organizing and hosting this workshop reflects our belief that archiving and document management are fundamental components of modern governance systems. Meeting under the umbrella of this cultural institution provides us with an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of building a comprehensive national archive, exchanging experiences with government entities, and developing practices that preserve institutional memory and support knowledge sustainability.' Dr. Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General of the National Archives and Library, commented that 'this specialized workshop addresses a topic of immense importance to us all, as it represents a pivotal point in the journey of preserving institutional memory. It plays a crucial role in enhancing efficiency, supporting the decision-making process, and protecting the rights of individuals and entities, in addition to promoting the principles of good governance and transparency. Its significance has increased amid the rapid advancement of modern technologies, foremost among them artificial intelligence and its applications, which have firmly entered the realm of document and records management, simplifying information access and paving the way for more precise and effective organization processes.' He expressed his great confidence in the capabilities and experience of national cadres, as well as their technical and professional skills, which qualify them to develop advanced systems for document and records management and preserve them within the nation's memory for future generations, serving as a testament to the victorious journey of the UAE and its brilliant achievements. The workshop featured several specialized lectures. Dr. Hamad Al-Mutairi, Executive Director of the National Archives and Library, presented a comprehensive overview of the legislations and standards for managing documents and archives. Amal Abdulhamid showcased the system for managing current and intermediate documents and technical procedures, explaining the steps for organizing daily documents in a manner that ensures accuracy and ease of access. Meanwhile, Dr. Sufian Bouhrat discussed the management of electronic documents and the most prominent modern technical solutions for preserving digital documents and ensuring their easy retrieval when needed.
