The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, expressed his 'deep shock' on Tuesday over the impact of the Middle East war on civilians. He emphasized that the world cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of people. According to him, the humanitarian situation in the region continues to deteriorate. 'We cannot tolerate this state of affairs,' Türk stated. He called on all parties to the conflict to comply with international humanitarian law. Türk also stressed the need for immediate access for humanitarian missions to those affected.
