Dozens of Countries Condemn Attacks on Peacekeepers in Lebanon

Dozens of countries issued a joint statement at the United Nations on Thursday, condemning the "unacceptable aggressive behavior" towards the United Nations peacekeeping forces in Lebanon and calling for enhanced protection for them after the killing of three Indonesian soldiers there. Indonesian Ambassador to the UN Omar Hady read the statement, accompanied by dozens of envoys from countries that supported it. The statement also expressed "deep concern" about the humanitarian situation in Lebanon, particularly the large number of civilian casualties and injuries, the extensive damage to civilian infrastructure, and the mass displacement of more than one million people.
