The final conclusion of its mission to support peace, the Organization of the United Nations handed over control to the Finnish control point on Friday. This point was the last outpost remaining from the UN mission, which was terminated at the end of 2023 by the decision of the Security Council.
The UN fulfilled an important mission, and this moment of transferring the control point has become symbolically significant for their participation in this conflict. Despite the complexities with which the mission encountered, the authorities recognized the importance of the UN's participation and its contribution to stabilizing the situation.
"We thank the Organization of the United Nations for their significant involvement in this process and for their assistance in establishing peace in the region," emphasized the representative of the Finnish control point after the transfer.
