Dubai police detained a Brazilian national named William Pereira Rugato, who was on Interpol's "red" list. He is accused of involvement in match-fixing in football matches in his home country, which allegedly contributed to illegal enrichment through betting on international sports platforms. The 34-year-old Rugato was arrested upon arrival in the UAE from a European country.

Colonel Tariq Sultan Hilal Al-Suvaydi, head of the criminal investigation department, noted that the international detention reflects the commitment of Dubai police to cooperate and coordinate with law enforcement agencies worldwide in the fight against transnational organized crime in all its manifestations. He also confirmed that the arrest corresponds to strategies of security forces aimed at supporting a reliable international security system, focused on combating crime and sharing successful practices in the field of security to improve community safety.
