The manager of the team "Al-Nasr" in basketball, Egyptian Hassan Al-Wakil, emphasized that one of the main goals of "Al-Nasr" is to participate in the Dubai International Tournament, which is currently taking place at the "Al-Nasr" venue and will run until February 2nd. It represents the development of young players and the accumulation of experience through matches against strong teams and national teams from Asia and Africa.
Al-Wakil stated: "Our goals for the tournament are not limited to results; the primary focus is on utilizing local talent to ensure our young players gain more game time against various teams from Asia and Africa, some of which are the strongest in their regions."
"In our team, there are three main players who also represent the national team in the tournament, which is part of their preparation for Asian qualifying matches next month, after a long break in the championship, during which our team rose in the rankings, offering young players even more opportunities to gain experience," he added.
The performance of "Al-Nasr" in the first match of the tournament against "Beirut" ended with a victory for the Lebanese team with a score of 99-81. Al-Wakil said: "The overall impression from the players' performance is positive, especially noting that our boys showed a strong game against a team reinforced by foreign professionals, especially in the fourth quarter."
"We gained a lot of insights from the match against 'Beirut', and our players' level improved significantly in the third quarter, before we restored our concentration under pressure in the last 10 minutes, which is one of the positive aspects of our participation in the tournament," he concluded.
Today, the national team OAE will face the team "Al-Ittihad" of Oman, and there will also be matches between the teams "Al-Ahli" of Tripoli and "Zambonga", followed by the national team Tunisia and "Al-Hakima".
