Waleed Abbas: Ready to Represent UAE Again

Legionnaire of the club "Shabab Al-Ahli" Walid Abbas (39 years) stated that he has not completed his international career, continues to provide and is ready to take part in the national team if the coach of the Portuguese team, Paulo Bento, expresses the same desire. He noted that "Shabab Al-Ahli" has the ability to compete for several titles this season, as the team features outstanding players, and under the guidance of Portuguese coach Paulo Sousa, it has significantly progressed.

Expressing the desire to return to the national team upon the request of the training staff, Abbas emphasized his readiness to provide full support even in the most difficult circumstances. Responding to the question about the chances of the team qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, he highlighted the importance of concentrating on the remaining matches of the qualifying stage, especially before the match against Iran and North Korea.

Abbas drew attention to the talented newcomers in the national team, noting that they require more time to fully realize their potential. He advised them to maintain self-control, pay more attention to the game, and not get distracted by the media.

The player highlighted a long and productive career, whether at "Shabab Al-Ahli" or in the national team, where he has been a key figure for many years. Abbas explained his longevity in football by stating that he constantly works on himself, is disciplined in training, and follows a regimen, which leads to successful performances and allows him to continue his career.

Casually competing for leadership in the Emirates League table between "Shabab Al-Ahli" and "Sharjah," Abbas expressed confidence in the high level of competition between the teams. He is sure that in case any problems arise within the team, reserve players will be able to help, and emphasized that the team has become more mature and has significantly improved under the guidance of Paulo Sousa.

At the end of the conversation, Abbas confirmed the significant victory of "Shabab Al-Ahli" with a score of 3-1 over "Al-Bataeh" in the group stage match of the "Al-Adnak" division yesterday, despite the absence of several key players.
