
The cyclist Lorina Wiebes from the SD Worx team took the first place at the stage "Dubai Legacy". Wiebes won the first stage of the Emirates Tour for Women 2025, the only one in the world that competes in the region, included in the calendar of the International Cycling Union, organized by the Sports Council of Abu Dhabi.
The cyclist from the Netherlands, Lorina Wiebes, participates as part of the Dutch SD Worx ProTeam. At the start, they set off from the Dubai Police Officers Club, traversing the main attractions of the Emirates, to "Dubai Harbor" in three hours, 57 minutes, and 37 seconds. This is already the second year in a row that she wins the first stage of the tour, achieving a total of four victories in the Emirates Tour.
In the first stage of the tournament, the top three places were taken by Dutch cyclists. The second place was taken by Charlotte Kool from the BikeExchange team with a time of 0.04 seconds behind, and the third place - Ninka Vinhoven from the Vismale Ladies Bike team with a time of 0.06 seconds behind. Lorina Wiebes received the red leader's jersey of the tour, and also the green jersey from "Mers" for leading in points, Ninka Vinhoven - the blue jersey from "Taqa" for best young cyclist, and the Italian Kristina Tonetti from the La-Bjorakutcha team - the black jersey from "Al-Dar" for leadership in average speed.
After the race, winners and leaders were awarded by public figures, such as Saeed Harab, the General Secretary of the Dubai Sports Council, Arif Abwani, the General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Naser Aman Al-Rahma, Deputy of the General Secretary of the Dubai Sports Council, Talal Al-Hashimi, Executive Director of Events Sector of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Abd al-Rahim Al-Zarouni, Director of the Dubai Sports Council's communication office, Rim Al-Rashidi, and other representatives of partner companies.
An unforeseen incident occurred during the race result, in the middle of the race, when one of the participants fell, leading to a crash of many athletes, most of whom continued racing to the finish. The second stage will take place in the Zafra area over a distance of 111 km, the starting route begins from the Zafra fort to the port, including wide and straight roads with circular series.
