Luca Nardi, ranked 79th in the world, finished his performance at the Dubai Duty Free Championships after losing in the quarterfinals to 77th-ranked Frenchman Quentin Halys. Aliassime secured a semifinal ticket after winning against Halys, following a win over Belgian Zizou Bergs and losing to Halys in the quarterfinals. The Canadian clearly defeated Halys with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 in two hours and forty minutes. He thus ended Halys' streak of sensations, which started with a victory over the eighth-ranked world classification Australian Alex de Minaur, and winning further against the 27th-ranked Alexei Popyrin.
