Luca Nardi Bows Out of Dubai Tennis Championships

Luca Nardi, ranked 79th in the world, finished his performance at the Dubai Duty Free Championships after losing in the quarterfinals to 77th-ranked Frenchman Quentin Halys. The match, in which Nardi lost with a score of 2-6, 6-3, 7-6, took place yesterday at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium in the Karahud area of Dubai. The 33rd similar tournament concludes tomorrow, with a total prize fund of 3.7 million dollars.

Halys needed two hours and eight minutes to defeat Nardi, and will then face off in the semifinal against 21st-ranked Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime. The tournament presents a separate prize "to the lucky loser" for the best player who showed good results but could not advance to the main round. Nardi was awarded this prize, having advanced past the first round, defeating 88th-ranked world tennis player Martin Fuscovics.

Aliassime secured a semifinal ticket after winning against Halys, following a win over Belgian Zizou Bergs and losing to Halys in the quarterfinals. The Canadian clearly defeated Halys with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 in two hours and forty minutes. He thus ended Halys' streak of sensations, which started with a victory over the eighth-ranked world classification Australian Alex de Minaur, and winning further against the 27th-ranked Alexei Popyrin.
