National star of snooker, Mohaamed Shehab, holder of 126 medals for his sports career, confirmed that the onset of the month of Ramadan is a great spiritual blessing from all sides. He noted that Ramadan is his favorite month compared to other months of the year, as it allows him to effectively utilize time, especially during the night periods, increasing the number of hours of training.
"Ramadan is an additional opportunity for athletes to find more time for training, as before the training moment, when they focus on training, improving cognitive and physical skills after long hours of fasting, as well as nighttime hours, which are considered optimal for me personally, and I utilize them to increase the number of hours of training," said Shehab.
Mohaamed added that after finishing a working day, athletes have the opportunity to activate their physical component through light training, especially for snooker players, spending training sessions for an hour or even more, concentrating on strategic planning for matches, since winning in snooker depends not only on pocketing balls but also on where the white ball (cue ball) appears after a shot for obtaining the best position for the next shot and, subsequently, a continuous pocketing of balls in such a way that ensures victory in the match.
Shehab pointed out that the total number of hours of his training during Ramadan constitutes approximately five hours in total, distributed before and after training.
Specifically regarding the diet that Mohaamed Shehab adheres to in the holy month, he stated: "I prefer a balanced approach in all aspects of life, including consuming balanced varieties of sugar, keeping away from fatty foods, to ensure obtaining the required amount of protein for muscle maintenance, especially considering that playing in snooker requires maintaining muscle structure in the best condition for a correct shot of balls."
"I avoid local food in the month of Ramadan, especially when breaking the fast, while adhering to deep scientific research in obtaining nutritional dishes with Sobol fish and components that provide sufficient nutrients necessary for muscle maintenance, including salmon, beef, as well as various light salads, additionally with fluids rich in vitamins, without needing to increase water intake and moderate doses of it."
"Snooker players are subjected to muscle tension due to prolonged concentration on styles of shots, whether it's a spin, shoulder, or hand, therefore I need to strengthen less utilized muscles during the holy month, to guarantee victory in matches."
