Recently, the council of directors of the Basketball Federation of the United Arab Emirates decided to reappoint its president, General Ismail al-Karkawi, to the position of head of the Arab Basketball Federation for a new term from 2024 to 2028, in recognition of his achievements and continuous support for this sport over the past four decades. This decision was made unanimously during a meeting of the council of directors, which took place yesterday at the headquarters of the club "Shabab al-Ahli". The general secretary of the federation, Mansour al-Hashimi, explained that this step was taken in connection with the significant role that al-Karkawi played in the development of basketball in the United Arab Emirates and the Arab region, as well as in connection with his numerous achievements at the Arab and continental levels. Ismail al-Karkawi expressed gratitude to the council of directors for the trust they placed in him, confirming his readiness to continue working with enthusiasm for the development of the game and strengthening the Arab basketball system through joint cooperation between the Arab Federation and the member federations. It is planned that the Basketball Federation of the United Arab Emirates will send a letter with a candidate proposal to the General Secretariat of the Arab Federation, where a general assembly of the federation will take place on April 17 in Dubai to elect a new council of directors.
