Khalid Al Shehhi won the gold medal in the men's 62 kg category at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, held in the Thai capital of Bangkok. This adds a new achievement to the record of Emirati jiu-jitsu on the world stage, bringing the national team's medal count to seven: four gold, one silver, and two bronze in men's and women's competitions.
Al Shehhi's victory came after an outstanding performance he delivered in all of his tournament bouts. He demonstrated a high technical and physical level that reflects the development of jiu-jitsu in the United Arab Emirates and the professional training that national team athletes receive, thanks to the great support from the leadership and the federation.
Al Shehhi managed to surpass the world's top-ranked athletes on his way to gold, receiving high praise from the audience and participants for his performance level.
The UAE participated in the championship with a large delegation of 110 male and female athletes in various categories, along with technical, administrative, and medical staff, as part of the federation's plan to enhance the experience of athletes of different age groups in major international tournaments.
