The strategy aims to enhance its competitiveness and elevate Dubai's position on the global sports map.The launch took place during a special event organized by the Dubai Sports Council at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex, showcasing the key features and targets of the new Dubai Sports Strategy. The event was attended by an elite group of officials, local and international sports stars, representatives of federations and sports institutions, as well as numerous partners and event organizers.His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also unveiled the new design for Dubai's sports identity, which will serve as a logo expressing the future aspirations of sport in Dubai and embodying its commitment to enhancing its leadership and status in the global sports scene to become one of the world's most important and best cities in supporting and attracting athletes and sporting events. The new design was chosen from thousands of entries from designers and creators.His Highness said: "Today, we are launching a comprehensive and ambitious vision for Dubai's sports that focuses on enhancing the competitiveness of the sports sector, leveraging its promising opportunities, and investing in supporting and nurturing young talents to achieve more honorable sports achievements, as well as hosting major sporting events in Dubai to make it one of the most important global destinations in the field of sports."He added: "We believe in Dubai that sport is an essential element in developing and achieving the quality of life for society and shaping the future... Therefore, in the next phase, we will focus on empowering public and private sports clubs, supporting sports talents to reach the global level starting from Dubai, enhancing community participation in various sports, and developing sports facilities and stadiums to host the world's major championships and events."His Highness explained that the Dubai Sports Council will work to achieve the objectives of this strategy in cooperation with partners from both the public and private sectors to design the future of the sports sector to be more competitive and sustainable, and a main driver of Dubai's growth and increasing the contribution of the sports sector to Dubai's annual GDP, which will reflect on the health, happiness, and vitality of community members. It aims to build an integrated sports system that combines community development, competitive excellence, and effective management, in line with the rapid development Dubai is witnessing across various sectors, and in line with future transformations in the global sports sector, contributing to achieving the goals of Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).19 Programs and 75 InitiativesThe plan, supervised by the Dubai Sports Council, includes 19 main programs and 75 different initiatives aimed at developing the sports infrastructure in the emirate, enhancing community participation in sports activities, encouraging individuals to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle, and developing and qualifying promising sports talents according to the latest and most successful global practices in selecting and developing the gifted.17 Priority SportsThe new strategy identified 17 priority sports across three main categories:Emerging sports such as padel, combat sports, and e-sports, which are witnessing rapid and promising growth;Community sports such as running and swimming, which contribute to enhancing community participation and public health; andSports with global resonance such as golf, cricket, and basketball, which combine mass appeal and significant economic returns.Key TargetsThe targets of the 'Dubai Sports Strategy 2033' include increasing the annual contribution of the sports sector to Dubai's GDP from AED 10.17 billion to AED 18.3 billion by 2033, increasing the number of people practicing sports in Dubai from 1.6 million to 2.6 million, and increasing the number of attendees at major events hosted by Dubai throughout the year from 1.67 million to 4.1 million.Implementation FrameworkThe Dubai Sports Council will work on applying precise governance mechanisms to monitor the implementation of programs and initiatives, adopting key performance indicators to measure progress against the set goals.His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, launched on Thursday the 'Dubai Sports Strategy 2033', which outlines the future of the sports sector in Dubai in the coming period.
