National basketball team center Ahmed Abdul Latif, who moved to Al Sharjah club this season, stated that winning against his younger brother Hamed and the clashes on the court made the tough victory more enjoyable. Al Sharjah secured a win (110-106) against their rival Shabab Al Ahli, allowing "The King" to tie with "Fursan Dubai" and take sole second place with 13 points, one point behind leaders "Al Nasr". Meanwhile, Shabab Al Ahli's loss caused them to drop to third place. Ahmed Abdul Latif scored 12 points for Al Sharjah, while his younger brother Hamed successfully scored 15 points, including 9 from three-pointers. Ahmed Abdul Latif said to "Emirates Today": "Facing my old team carried an emotional dimension, especially as I was forced to clash with my younger brother on the court. The result remained uncertain until the final seconds." He added: "Sportsmanship was present on the court, and winning was an added pleasure in a match where I played against my younger brother. The clashes were always marked by a desire to perform well for both our teams while enjoying the game." Ahmed explained that they tried to provoke each other with usual phrases like 'You won't score' and 'Try again', but the most common phrase between them was 'Half fun' or 'Enjoy the game', which they exchanged in the handshake at the end of the match. Regarding his move to Al Sharjah, Ahmed said: "I owe credit to my old team Shabab Al Ahli, where I progressed with my three brothers. However, the move to Al Sharjah gave me the opportunity, under the guidance of the experienced coach Abdelhamid Ibrahim, to prove myself and develop my performance, especially at the center position (4), where I usually had difficulty getting playing minutes with 'Fursan' due to the presence of more than one player at that spot, most notably the international player Qais Omar." It is worth noting that Ahmed Abdul Latif and his brothers Muhammad and Hamed are from a family that loves basketball. They are the sons of Abdul Latif Abdullah, one of the players of the national team's first generation, who succeeded in reaching the national team through "Al Ahli" (now "Shabab Al Ahli") in 1984 and achieved prominent accomplishments, most notably a silver medal in the Military World Championship in Syria in 1988.
