Newcastle United Football Club has filed a complaint regarding the "unacceptable treatment" its fans received after the 1-2 defeat to Marseille in the Champions League. According to the British news agency "PA Media", Newcastle accused the French police of using a mixture of pepper spray, as well as batons and shields to disperse fans, after their loss on Tuesday evening at the Velodrome stadium. The club's statement read: "We will formally raise our concerns with UEFA, Olympique de Marseille, and the French Police regarding the unacceptable treatment of our fans by police at the Velodrome stadium following Tuesday's Champions League match".
