Dubai has launched its new Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, aiming to develop the sports sector and enhance its global competitiveness and appeal. Announced by His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, the plan seeks to establish Dubai as a top-10 global sports city.

The key objectives include increasing the number of major sporting events hosted by Dubai annually by 250% and upgrading sports facilities to the highest standards. The sports sector is projected to contribute AED 18.3 billion to Dubai’s GDP by 2033, with an 80% growth rate in the sports economy.

A major focus of the plan is to boost sports tourism and elevate Dubai's brand as a leading global sporting destination. This will be achieved by upgrading sports infrastructure, leveraging technology, and launching global tourism campaigns in partnership with Dubai Tourism.

In December, Dubai will host the World Sports Summit, the largest global gathering of sports stars, experts, and decision-makers, aiming to shape the future of sports from the "city of the future."

"In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor, the Dubai Sports Council will develop and implement 19 key programs and 75 initiatives to achieve our ambitious goals for Dubai's sports sector," said His Excellency Khalfan Juma Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council.

The plan will also focus on elevating the level of successful championships that have established Dubai as a leading global city for the quality and diversity of its events.
