Haaland reaches 100 Premier League goals, becomes fastest goalscorer in history

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland expressed his pride and happiness at reaching the 100-goal mark in the English Premier League. Haaland became the fastest player in history to score 100 goals, netting his hundredth on Tuesday in the match against Fulham, which Manchester City won 5-4. Haaland scored 100 goals in 111 matches, 13 fewer than the previous record holder, Alan Shearer. On joining the '100 club', Haaland said in a statement published on Manchester City's official website: 'It's a massive thing, I'm very proud of it.' After the win, which cut the gap to leaders Arsenal to two points, Haaland clarified that Manchester City's focus would be solely on themselves: 'Of course, it's important. Arsenal came here and won as well, we know how difficult it is to play at this ground. Fulham are a great team.' He confirmed: 'We shouldn't think too much about Arsenal, we have to focus on ourselves, try to develop and avoid what happened today.' Of course, it's a big thing. He added: 'It's a beautiful thing to be part of the 100 club, and I'm happy about that. I knew about this record, and that's what I try to do, help the team score goals, that's my job.' He continued: 'I think if you were sitting at home now, you would have enjoyed that game. It was a chaotic game, nine goals in one game is a lot, in the end, we won and we are happy, but it's not the best game.' He confirmed: 'Every game is different, you can't think about previous games, you have to look ahead. The reality is that we lost to Newcastle and Leverkusen, and now we've won two in a row, we have to keep going, the schedule is tough, and there are a lot of games next month, game after game, and we recover in the best way.' Commenting on his role as a City striker, he said: 'I don't want to say the word, but when you are a Manchester City striker, you have to deliver big numbers, that's my job.'
