UAE Marine Sports Federation Launches National Archive Project

The UAE Marine Sports Federation announced yesterday the launch of the first national project to document and archive the marine sports history of the United Arab Emirates. The Federation stated in a press release that this unprecedented initiative aims to preserve the maritime memory and safeguard the rich sporting legacy that constitutes one of the pillars of national identity since the Federation's establishment. The project establishes the first comprehensive digital database to collect, organize, and document historical records of championships, races, events, and local and international participation, as well as photos, film materials, documents, and artifacts related to the marine sports sector. The archive will serve as a primary reference for international studies and initiatives, enhancing the UAE's position as a leading destination in sports documentation and adopting advanced solutions to preserve marine history. The initiative was launched following a coordination meeting with the National Archives and Library, during which mechanisms for developing an integrated national system for managing historical content were reviewed, and unified policies were approved, including high-quality digitization, material classification, team training, and strengthening integration with marine clubs in the process of collecting available historical data and materials.
