The Dubai Sports Council continues to accept applications for participation in the 'Dubai Water Challenge' event, organized by the council. The event will take place the day after tomorrow, with the support of Dubai Holding, in cooperation with the Roads and Transport Authority and the Dubai Maritime Authority. The company Super Sport will handle the organizational aspects during the first-of-its-kind competitions. According to a statement from the Dubai Sports Council yesterday, the event is the first sporting event to be held in the Dubai Water Canal as part of initiatives to activate the area and transform it into a distinguished sports and community destination. The event will feature competitions in three main sports: running, duathlon (running and cycling), and kayaking and stand-up paddling. Kayak and stand-up paddling races will be held on the waters of the canal. For the duathlon, cycling competitions on stationary bikes will be held on the Bridge of Tolerance, and running races will be held around the Dubai Water Canal. Participation is open to all nationalities, provided that participants are 18 years of age or older. The competitions will last for three hours and 30 minutes, starting at 7:00 AM and continuing until 10:30 AM. Participants will receive participation medals and championship t-shirts. Prizes have also been allocated for the winners of the first and second places in the running and duathlon events. The Dubai Sports Council is keen to cooperate with various government and private entities and event organizers to organize diverse sporting events throughout the year in various areas of Dubai. These numerous and diverse areas are turning into tracks and zones for wonderful sporting competition, enhancing the role of sports in society as a lifestyle, and also promoting the health, happiness, and activity of community members and social relations among participants in events from the expatriate communities living in Dubai and the UAE, who belong to more than 200 nationalities.
