The national team is participating in the Rapid and Blitz Chess World Championship in Doha from the 26th to the 30th of this month, with three players: Salem Abdulrahman, Oman Al-Hosani, and Amar Al-Sidrani. Three national referees will also oversee the competitions, including Dr. Sultan Ali Al-Tahir, Deputy Chairman of the Referees Committee, along with international referees Faisal Al-Hamadi and Salman Al-Tahir. In turn, the Acting Secretary-General of the Chess Federation, Naser Abdullah bin Amer, stated in press comments: "Participation in the championship comes within the Federation's strategy to enhance the players' skills and boost their international readiness," adding that "the Federation trusts the ability of the three players to represent the UAE in the best possible way at this global event." He also added that "the participation of national referees in this global event reflects the advanced position enjoyed by Emirati chess on the international scene, whether at the player or refereeing level, as the selection of these national cadres came after years of continuous work, training, and the ongoing support provided by the Federation to chess judges, which contributes to presenting a proud image of Emirati chess in major world championships."
