Al-Wasl Inflicts First Defeat on Al-Wahda

Al-Wasl ended Al-Wahda's winning streak and inflicted their first defeat of the season by beating them 1-0 in the opening match of round 11 of the ADNOC Pro League. The only goal of the match was scored by Al-Wasl's player Brian Balacios, capitalizing on a mistake by Al-Wahda's goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Shamsi when he came out to clear a pass from Nicolas Gimenez. Balacios slotted the ball into the net, giving 'The Emperor' three valuable points. With this win, Al-Wasl avenged their 1-4 defeat to Al-Wahda in the previous season, ending the latter's unbeaten run of 22 league matches. Al-Wahda's points tally remained at 21, dropping them to third place in the standings, while Al-Wasl climbed to second with the same points, intensifying the battle for the top positions. The match was below technical expectations, especially in the first half, which lacked clear chances, with the exception of a single shot by Ali Saleh that was confidently saved by the Al-Wahda goalkeeper. The second half saw a slight improvement in the tempo, and Omar Kharbin could have brought Al-Wahda back into the game, but his team's best chance was thwarted by the Al-Wasl defense, which preserved their narrow lead until the final whistle.
