The organizing committee of the Dubai International Basketball Championship announced the participation of eight teams in its 35th edition, to be held at the Al-Nasr Club in Dubai from January 23 to February 1. The announcement was made during a committee meeting held yesterday at the headquarters of the Dubai National Olympic Committee, chaired by the President of the Basketball Federation and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, Abdul Latif Al-Fardan, in the presence of the President of the New Generation Events Company, the tournament's organizer, Naji Al-Jabri, and several members of the Basketball Federation's board of directors. During the meeting, the special committees for the tournament were determined, and organizational, logistical details, and accompanying events were discussed before announcing the names of the participating teams: the UAE national team, the UAE's Al-Nasr club, Lebanon's Beirut, Syria's Al-Karama and Al-Fadha, Libya's Al-Ahli Tripoli, Tunisia's Espérance, and the Filipino Zamboanga. Abdul Latif Al-Fardan stated in his press remarks that the UAE national team's participation comes as part of the desire to benefit from the technical experience and the strength of matches in a tournament listed on the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) calendar, and it constitutes an important stop in the team's preparation program for its upcoming participation in the Gulf Games, scheduled to be held in Qatar next May. Al-Fardan also said: 'The Dubai International Championship is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the region, and it has continued to consolidate its technical and organizational standing at the Arab and regional levels since its first edition in 1989, until its name became associated with Dubai as a sporting, regional, and international destination.'
